Sri Lankan School Cricket, Division 1,11 and 111 segmented and approved by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Sri Lanka School Cricket Association. Base on performance of the Schools their division will be changed yearly.

Sunday Observer has renamed those Schools as Division 1 for Platinum, Division 11 for Gold, Division 111 for Silver Category. All Schools falling under the respective division are informed to take note of this renaming.

Isipathana's Salinda Ushan tops 70,000 votes

Salinda Ushan Perera of Isipathana College, Colombo swept the board with a record number of votes (70,878) to maintain his top position almost from the beginning of the contest while his nearest rival last year winner Lakshina Rodrigo from St.Peter's College at the second place with 31,685 votes at Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2016.

Top three contenders unmoved

The three top contenders in their respective segments remained unmoved at the end of the penultimate count of the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Pipular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest 2016. Salinda Ushan of Isipathana polled in 38216 votes to consolidate his place in the platinum for division 1 schools while Piyumal Sinhawansa (St.Anne’s, Kurunegala) had 22209 votes in the Gold segment for division 11 schools and Lakshan Fernando of De La Salle ,Mutwal is placed at top with 11972 votes in the Silver category.

With the end of the contest nearing Isipathana's Salinda Ushan ( platinum division 1 ) and Piyumal Sinhawansa from St.Anns's Kurunegala (Gold) division two are cruising along at the end of the 16th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest 2016.

While Salinda Ushan of Isipathana still maintaince the lead with 9440 votes in the platinum contest for division one schools, Piyumal Sinhawansa of St.Anne's College Kurunegala is gradually finding his way to the top of the Gold segment for division 11 schools at the end of the 9th week count in the Sunday Observer /Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Contest 2016.

Isipathana's Shalinda Ushan Perera continued his dominence at the number one spot polling 6482 votes while Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo who was placed third last week climed to the number two positiion with 4984 votes displacing Lasith Embuldeniya of Royal who was placed second last week at the end of the 7th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2016.

St. Peter’s College batsman Lakshina Rodrigo has pulled in a big chunk of 1214 votes to enhance his count to 2077 at the third week of the 38th Sunday Observer-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of the Year contest.
