Sri Lankan School Cricket, Division 1,11 and 111 segmented and approved by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Sri Lanka School Cricket Association. Base on performance of the Schools their division will be changed yearly.
Sunday Observer has renamed those Schools as Division 1 for Platinum, Division 11 for Gold, Division 111 for Silver Category. All Schools falling under the respective division are informed to take note of this renaming.
Salinda Ushan Perera of Isipathana College, Colombo swept the board with a record number of votes (70,878) to maintain his top position almost from the beginning of the contest while his nearest rival last year winner Lakshina Rodrigo from St.Peter's College at the second place with 31,685 votes at Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2016.
The three top contenders in their respective segments remained unmoved at the end of the penultimate count of the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Pipular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest 2016. Salinda Ushan of Isipathana polled in 38216 votes to consolidate his place in the platinum for division 1 schools while Piyumal Sinhawansa (St.Anne’s, Kurunegala) had 22209 votes in the Gold segment for division 11 schools and Lakshan Fernando of De La Salle ,Mutwal is placed at top with 11972 votes in the Silver category.

With the end of the contest nearing Isipathana's Salinda Ushan ( platinum division 1 ) and Piyumal Sinhawansa from St.Anns's Kurunegala (Gold) division two are cruising along at the end of the 16th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest 2016.
There were no changes at the top in all three segments, Platunum, Gold and Slver as Salinda Ushan ( Isipathana), Piyumal Sinhawansa (St.Anne's) and Lakshan Fernando (De La Salle, Coillege, Mutwal) sealing there places as top contenders at the end of the 15th week count in the Sunday Observer / Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2016 .
While Salinda Ushan Perera of Isipathana maintained his top spot with 23,244 votes, Peterite Lakshjina Rodrigo (16850) took the number two position ahead of Royal's Lasith Embuldeniya (16586) at the end of the 14th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year 2016 contest.
Salinda Ushan Perera of Isipathana is cruising ahead polling 19, 658 votes with Royals Lasith Embuldeniya and Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo placed second and third respectively in the platinum segment of the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2016 at the end of 13th week count.
Lasith Embuldeniya of Royal College, Colombo was placed second polling 11589 votes pushing Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo ( 10436 votes into third place, while Isipathana’s Salinda Ushan Perera remained at the top with 15,936 votes at the end of the 13th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of The year contest 2016.

Piyumal Sinhawansa of St.Anne’s College, Kurunegala took the lead in the ‘Gold’ segment for division 11 schools polling 5338 votes with a majority of 347 over St.Anthony’s College, Katugasthota’s Kanishka Uggalpaya who had 4991 votes against his name in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest 2016 at the end of the 10th week count.
While Salinda Ushan of Isipathana still maintaince the lead with 9440 votes in the platinum contest for division one schools, Piyumal Sinhawansa of St.Anne's College Kurunegala is gradually finding his way to the top of the Gold segment for division 11 schools at the end of the 9th week count in the Sunday Observer /Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Contest 2016.
Salinda Ushan of Isipathana College, swept past the seven thousand vote mark ( 7378) , with Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo ( 5612) and Royal’s Lasith Embuldeniya ( 5088) in second and third places respectively in the division one category at the end of the 8th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest 2016.
Isipathana's Shalinda Ushan Perera continued his dominence at the number one spot polling 6482 votes while Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo who was placed third last week climed to the number two positiion with 4984 votes displacing Lasith Embuldeniya of Royal who was placed second last week at the end of the 7th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2016.

There was a significant change at the top as Sri Lanka schools representative Salinda Ushan of Isipathana College came from behind and polled in 2602 votes to secure the third place only behind Royal's Lasith Embuldeniya (3764) and Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo (3584) in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year 2016 competition at the end of the 5th week counting.
While Lasith Embuldeniya of Royal College, Colombo , maintained his top positionin the platinum contest for division one schools polling 3237 votes , Kanishka Uggalpaya the captain of St.Anthony's College, Katugasthota leaped to the number two spot from number five last week polling 1,253 in the Gold segment for division two schools at the end of fourth week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2016.
Sri Lanka's under 19 Youth World Cup discard and Royal College's left arm leg spinner Lasith Embuldeniya took over the lead from St. Peter's College batsman Lakshina Rodrigo in the Platinum competition for division one schools in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the year contest at the end of the third week's count .
St. Peter’s College batsman Lakshina Rodrigo has pulled in a big chunk of 1214 votes to enhance his count to 2077 at the third week of the 38th Sunday Observer-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of the Year contest.
Last year’s winner of the Observer-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of the Year contest Lakshina Rodrigo from St. Peter’s College took the lead polling 863 votes while Ramesh Nimantha of St. Servatius College Matara was placed second in the platinum contest at the end of the first week’s counting at the 38th Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest.
