Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2014 The intense struggle for supremacy between the two Royalists Harith Samarasinghe and Randev Pathirana for twenty weeks finally came to an end when Harith Samarasinghe emerged victorious, polling 173,432 to Randev Pathirana’s 170,265 votes with a majority of 3167 to win the 36th Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2014 title.
The winners of the 36th SUNDAY OBSERVER/MOBITEL SCHOOLBOY CRICKETER OF THE YEAR CONTEST were picked last Tuesday by a distinguished panel of umpires from the Association Of Cricket Umpires and officials from Sri Lanka Cricket at the Bougainvillea Ballroom of the Hotel Galadari. The winners and the respective schools will be revealed soon.
OBSERVER-MOBITEL CONTEST....: Due to the unprecedented voting at the final stage of the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest the results of the Most Popular Contest in all three categories will be known in next week’s Sunday Observer.
The two Royalists _ Randev Pathirana (113,921) and Harith Samarasinghe (113,359) are engaged in a compelling battle for supremacy with Pathirana still in the lead with a majority of 562 votes in the ‘Platinum ‘ contest for division 1 schools at the end of the penultimate count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest at the end of count number 19.
The intense struggle for the first place between the two Royalists Harith Samarasinghe and Randev Pathirana has reached the zenith as Pathirana took the lead from last week’s winner Harith Samarasinghe in the ‘Platinum’ contest with a majority of 2027 vates. Pathirana has 82,018 votes Harith Samarasinghe is second place at the moment with 79,991 votes.
The battle in all three categories is being intensified as the deficit between the candidates of the top positions is narrowing at the end of count number 17 in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year 2014 Contest.The struggle for the first place in the Platinum segment between the two Royalists Randev Pathirana (70,294) and Harith Samarasinghe (70,311) has been boiled down to a majority of just 17 votes in favour of Samarasinghe.
Although Randev Pathirtana maintained his last week lead polling 64,274 votes to his closest rival Harith Samarasinghe ( 62,979) both from Royal College Colombo in the ‘platinum’ segment, there was a change in the ‘silver’ contest for division 111 schools, as last week’s runner up Mohammed Ziraz from Madeena MV, Kandy took the first place with a vote count of 29,147 to Dilshan Kanchana of Devapathiraja, Ratgama 28,899 who was placed second.
Randev Pathirana of Royal, College, Colombo polled in 57,004 votes to Harith Samarasinghe (55,697) also of Royal to top the ‘Platinum’ contest with a majority of 1307 votes at the end of count number 15 in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2014.
A close tussle is on, in all three segments, Platinum, Gold and Silver in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest this year. Harith Samarasinghe (48,207) of Royal College, Colombo managed to maintain his lead with a majority of 215 votes over his closest rival and teammate Randev Pathirana (47,992) in the ‘Platinum’ Contest for division one schools at the end of count number 14.
Harith Samarasinghe and Randev Pathirana both from Royal College, Colombo continued their fight for the top spot, but Samarasinghe maintained his top position this week too by polling (45,307) votes to Pathirana’s (41,188) at the end of count number 13 at the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer competition 2014.
The hectic tussle between the two Royalists Harith Samarasinghe (41,689) and Randev Pathirana (38,102) continued as Samarasinghe took over the lead from Pathirana to occupy the top spot with a lead of 3587 votes in the ‘platinum’ competition at the end of count number 12 in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of the year contest 2014.
Royal’s Randev Pathirana maintained his top position over team mate Harith Samarasinghe with a lead of 2598 votes at the end of count number 11 in the ‘Platinum’ category for schools playing in division one at the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year contest2014.
The race for the first two places in all three categories are getting more competitive with the lead dropping down into the hundreds at the end of count number 10 at the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2014.

There were no significant changes at the top in the ‘platinum’ contest for division 1 schools as the duo from Royal College, Colombo Randev Pathirana (18130) and Harith Samarasinghe (17228) occupied the first and second position at the end of count number 7 in the SUNDAY OBSERVER/MOBITEL MOST POPULAR SCHOOLBOY CRICKETER OF THE YEAR CONTEST 2014.
The fight for the first place between the two Royalists Randev Pathirana (16,127)and Harith Samarasinghe (15,968) is becoming intense as the deficit between the first Pathirana and second Samarasinghe has boiled down to just 159 votes at the end of count number 6 in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest ‘platinum’ category for division one schools.
Randev Pathirana of Royal College, Colombo sprang back into the lead polling 12,274 votes to Harith Samarasinghe who had 11,988 votes against him a majority of 286 at the end of count number 5 in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year Contest 2014 in ther ‘platnum’ategory for division 1 schools. Pathirana who was placed fourth last week climbed to the top while Katugasthota Anthonian Nimesh Gunasinghe who occupied the number two slot last week dropped to number 4 polling 11,502.

In division two, the ‘gold ‘segment, Tharaka Dananjaya of Carey College topped the list with a count of 3104 votes pushing Lasith Lakshan of St.Thomas’ College, Matara to the second spot with 2997 votes.
There were many changes at the top in all three categories at the end of count number 2 at the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most popukar Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest 2014. Trinity’s Raveen Sayer who was placed first last week was displaced by Royalist Randev Pathirana who took the lead while Katugasthota Anthonian Nimesh Gunasinghe took the number two spot.
