Sri Lanka Telecom-Mobitel will sponsor the annual Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer contest for the year 2014. Sri Lanka Telecom-Mobitel is sponsoring the contest for the seventh consecutive year to harness and reward outstanding schoolboy cricketers in the island. This year is the 36th year in the series of annual Schoolboy Cricketer contest in which a galaxy of top class cricketers, who represented Sri Lanka were picked. The 36th Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer 2014 awards night will be telecast on October 25 at 9.30 p.m. on Channel Eye, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
The Mega Show which richly rewards budding schoolboy cricketers - the 36th Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year awards presentation will be held at the grand ballroom of the Cinnamon Grand on Wednesday. Former Sri Lanka cricketer and current ICC elite panel umpire Kumar Dharmasena, who had won the prestigious Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year award in 1989, will be the chief guest.
The grand finale of the 36th Sunday Observer/Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contest will be held on October 15 at the Oak Room of The Cinnamon Grand Hotel from 5.30 pm. The show of shows brings out the cream of schoolboy cricketers. It has continued for over three decades and provided the platform for young aspiring cricketers.
